This month the Government will hold meetings across the country to talk about the Workforce Development Councils they will set up as part of the Reform of Vocational Education.
Workforce Development Councils will do some of the work HITO currently does (set standards, develop qualifications and moderate assessments) as well as some new activities such as endorsing training programmes (on-job and off-job) and providing brokerage services to employers.
Up to seven Workforce Development Councils will be created in total. The industries each council will cover will be discussed at these meetings.
