After Jodi Osborne finished high school, she wasn’t sure what career path she wanted to follow. Having always enjoyed looking after her own skin and nails, she realised the beauty industry was a place where she could build a career for herself.
After two years of study, Jodi officially became a qualified beauty therapist.
Following six years working as a beauty therapist in the UK, Jodi returned to New Zealand with her young family, and opened Doubtless Beauty Retreat with her husband in Coopers Beach, Northland.
In recent years, Jodi has started to take on apprentices with HITO, training them up to the standard she expects to see in her clinic.

“I have always been an advocate for being 100% qualified,” says Jodi. “It represents an exceptional standard of skill and competence. Customers know the therapists have been trained to not only NZQA Level 4, but also knowledge and skills have been gained in line with the high standards they trust us for.”
For Jodi, training apprentices has meant she can share her extensive knowledge and experience with budding beauty therapists, while also continuing to learn and grow.
“I love the ‘a-ha!’ moment when the knowledge and skills all come together for the apprentice,” says Jodi. “Myself and our already qualified colleagues also learn so much from training as it refreshes and updates our knowledge. It really is a win-win.”
To apprentices currently training, Jodi encourages them to be brave. “Give things a go when the opportunity arises – don’t put it off,” she says. “Be organised, use HITO’s training tools and the experience of everyone around you, and remember there is no such thing as a silly question!”
