HITO Sales & Liaison Managers

The HITO Sales & Liaison Manager team will provide you regularly with news and information about the best opportunities for your salon for industry training.

They can:

  • Support your trainer and apprentice in skills and knowledge transfer.
  • Review your salon equipment to make sure you’re ready to train apprentices.
  • Provide help and support for you and your trainer.
  • Update you on training and qualification changes and best practices.
  • Work and liaise with training providers around apprentice off-job training.
  • Supply and explain the latest research and information about making your salon a training salon.

Employer Professional Development (EPD)

HITOs Employer Professional Development workshops allow employers and trainers to discuss questions relating to business, employment, literacy and training.

Learn how to:

  • Increase the skills and productivity of staff
  • Increase profit margins
  • Adhere to current New Zealand employment law
  • Provide training opportunities so staff can gain nationally recognised qualifications

HITO develops the industry qualifications for barbering beauty and hairdressing. We develop the resources for apprenticeship and training.

Workplace Literacy

HITO is committed to improving literacy levels in the industry.

Improving the literacy skills of people in the industry will help salons to grow their client base and adapt to future needs.

To help salons provide an environment which supports literacy and promotes learning, read HITOs ‘Literacy in the Hairdressing Salon’ Brochure.

HITO also supports the up skilling of off-job trainers and assessors to enable them to build the literacy skills of apprentices.

As part of the Modern Apprenticeship programme we also provide all Modern Apprentices with a literacy assessment when they sign up which provides the employer, tutor and the apprentice a chance to evaluate any literacy gaps and look for ways to meet their needs and ensure a better employment and learning opportunity.
