Welcome to the Beauty Industry from HITO

The New Zealand Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation Incorporated (HITO) is the new standard setting body for national beauty qualifications.

HITO is not looking to merge the distinct industries but to work with barbering, beauty and hairdressing separately to meet the specific needs of these industries.

For some time the beauty industry has been floundering with a moderation system that has not been working to a satisfactory standard for either the training establishments or the industry.

With the positive move of linking to HITO as our industry training organisation, we now have the resources to align the training establishments with the industry.  This will allow us to provide more united qualifications and an opportunity to work toward a National Qualification that we can be proud of.

I look forward to working under the umbrella of HITO and establishing an advisory group from the industry to formulate these qualifications.
